My name is Madeleine, and I am an art education major. I would like to go into elementary education in particular. I like to sketch, draw, sculpt, sew, weave, and many other crafts. I play lots of video games and I play lots of dungeons and dragons. Most of my drawing and sketching is character design art, but I do draw other things.

WHAT INSPIRES ME?

I have loved art since I was young, and drawn for as long as I can remember. My parents are certainly an inspiration because they are both artists themselves, so art was always something that was encouraged in my house. My younger sister is also wonderful with ceramics and acrylic paint, and my lifelong best friend has always been creative and artistic too, so they both have also had an effect on my love of art growing up.

My favorite artist at the moment has to be Hirohiko Araki, the author and creator of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I love his work, his style, and his bright colors. He uses high fashion and vogue magazines for all his references, and his understanding of anatomy is amazing. His work is so odd and weird that it encouraged me to just do whatever I want. No matter how goofy the outfit a character is wearing may be, they can still be pretty cool.

Some other artists I take great inspiration from include Rebecca Sugar, who I sort of learned shape language from watching, and good character development. Yoshitaka Amano is anouther artist I love (whose use of color and anatomy I also adore) and Junji Ito. Despite my own colorful work, I am a massive horror fan, and Ito has made me want to be better at drawing scary things. I also look up to David Bowie too, if that wasn't obvious. He too inspires me to be colorful.
